第140話 ニュージーランドのパッチ・アダムス

Ｍさんが、ニュージーランドに行って来た。

観光ではなく、知人の老人が重い病床にあるので、お見舞いだったのだ。

その話を聞いた。

シドニーから飛行機を乗り継いで、そこに着いた。

すっかり瘠せたおじいさんが固く抱きしめてくれた。

以前はお腹のクッションが邪魔してソフトだったのに、今度は固く強かった。

話し合っているうちに、涙が流れてきて、とまらなくなった。

彼は大きなハンカチを取り出して、Ｍさんに渡そうとして、こう言った。

「これじゃ、大き過ぎるかい？」

Ｍさんは日本から持ってきた家族の写真を取り出して彼に見せた。

ディズニー・シーでミッキー・マウスと並んで撮った写真。

おじいさんは、指差して「ここに写っている彼は誰の親戚かい？」と言う。

――それはミッキー・マウスだった。

笑うことが、病気を良くする。

癌も治ることがあるとは有名だ。

それを実践している医師（パッチ・アダムス氏など）もいる。

しかし、ユーモアは手段ではなく、生きる意味そのものでもあるのではないか？

ユーモアというものは、人生のどんな小さな断片にも、可愛くきれいなリボンをつける魔術だなあ、と思う。

楽しい断片でも、苦しい断片でも、等しく効き目のある“魔法の粉”なのだ。

Mrs. M went to New Zealand. The main purpose of it, was to see one of her friends being old who has been sick in bed for a few years. I heard the story about him from her.

She arrived in NZ via Sydney. At his living room, when they saw each other, the old man( her friend) held her tight. Some years ago, it was difficult to hold her tight because of his big tommy. But this time he held her very tightly.

When she met him, she cried and could not make her tears stop. Then he took his handkerchief from his pocket, and asked her "Is it too big to you?"

And when she showed a picture which was taken at Disney Sea in Japan with her family and some Disney Characters. ";Whose relative is he?" He asked her with putting his forefinger on the photo. The finger points-------Micky Mouse!

Laughing makes disease getting well. It is known that even cancer can be recovered. There are some doctors like Patch Adams who use this method for the medical treatment. It is good way to use the sense of hurmor for medical care, but the sense of humor is a great mean of our life.

Having sense of humor is like wrapping with pretty ribbon to every tiny things in our daily life. It is just a miracle powder which brings a great effect to good things and bad things equally.（by M)
